Expect Delays during The Woodlands Marathon 2016

March 5, 2016 – The Fidelity Investments Woodlands Marathon and Houston Methodist Half Marathon is scheduled to start at 7 a.m. Saturday at Town Green Park. Expect some delays when going out in The Woodlands that day.

All businesses and neighborhoods will be accessible during the race. Only residential traffic is recommended through and around the race course between 6:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

The marathon route will follow Grogan’s Mill Road,  through East Shore, cross Woodlands Parkway and turn onto Sawdust Road heading west on Tanglebrush then Flintridge Drive, cross Kuykendahl Road, and eventually merge onto Woodlands Parkway. It will break off to go north on Branch Crossing Drive, cross Woodlands Parkway and continue on Terramont Drive, then Branch Crossing Drive again and then Alden Bridge Drive to merge with Kuykendahl Road until Lake Woodlands Drive, where it turns back to head for Town Green Park and the Waterway. Half-marathoners will trek down Grogan’s Mill Road to Research Forest Drive, head south on Kuykendahl, then east on Lake Woodlands to head for Town Green Park and the Waterway.

Eastbound lanes of Research Forest Drive between Kuykendahl Road and Grogan’s Mill Road will be closed from 6:30-8:30 a.m., north and southbound lanes of Kuykendahl Road will be closed from 6:30-9:30 a.m., and Eastbound lanes of Lake Woodlands Drive will be closed from 6:30-10 a.m., with one lane opening at 10 a.m. and both lanes opening at 1:30 p.m.

Race officials recommended using F.M. 2978 and I-45 for north and southbound traffic and Woodlands Parkway and Texas 242 for east and westbound traffic.

Those who cross into the designated central area of the race course should expect a 45-60 minute delay.
